Regional and rural Australia has been neglected over decades through under investment in transport infrastructure despite decentralisation policies.
Improved connectivity of different modes of transport through better synchronisation of timetables between bus and rail interchanges is needed. New options to use existing transport services to offer increased public transport options in the regions is well overdue.
Services should also be extended outside of what is considered business hours, in particular those services connecting regional centres to Melbourne’s CBD.
We support the building of high-speed rail links between Melbourne and the major regional cities, in particular Geelong and Melbourne CBD.
