I am pleased today to announce that we have secured a $22 Million support package for the Taxi Industry to help Vulnerable Victorians.
These targeted and effective initiatives, recommended by CPV Advisory Panel, will now be implemented to ensure that a Viable CPV Industry continues survives the current crisis and we have a taxi industry beyond COVID-19
Due to the COVID-19 crises, there has been an 80% drop in taxi demand and nearly 100% drop in hire car demand.
That’s why a $250 per month subsidy will be provided to active operational taxi CPV vehicles affiliated with a network
Additional cleaning and sanitations grants will cover regional and metro BSP’s alongside a new set of cleaning standards for CPVs to create a COVID19 Safe Industry!
Wheelchair lifting fees will be increase from $20.80 to $41.60 per lift for accessible vehicles to cover the extra costs these drivers face.
We know that this has been a very difficult time for many drivers. That’s why the Government will refund the $1 levy for all CPV drivers from April to June 2020.
Further, a $1 million-dollar fund for regional taxi Booking Service Providers has been established for where significant community detriment can be demonstrated without additional government assistance.
One thing is certain, I will continue to support and assist the Taxi industry at any given opportunity.
