Frequently Asked Questions - Business Support Program

Please note, this advice is specific to the taxi and hire car industry.

Q – Am I eligible for the most recent $85 million Small Business COVID Hardship Fund and $156 million Business Continuity Fund announced on the 28th of July?

A – If you received payments as part of the Business Costs Assistance Fund in May/June and the automatic top-up payment in July you are not eligible for the Small Business COVID Hardship Fund. The Victorian Government will release more information about eligibility for the Business Continuity Fund shortly, however, it is understood that this will be targeted to industries that were more heavily impacted by density requirements as restrictions were eased such as gyms and hospitality venues.

Q – Can I still apply for the Business Costs Assistance grants?

A – Yes. If you were ineligible for the first $5000 grant given out for the May/June lockdown, you can apply for the Business Costs Assistance Round 2 July Extension here: https://business.vic.gov.au/grants-and-programs/business-costs-assistance-program-round-two-july-extension

Applications for this $4800 grant close 11:59pm on 13th of August.

Q – Can you ask the department to change the outcome of my application or accept a late application?

A – No. I am unable to interfere with the grant application process. If you are unsure of what to do and need assistance, I recommend you obtain advice from your accountant.
